You’ve learned to make your mark—now it’s time to give it a voice.

If you’ve ever stared at a beautiful drawing and thought, "I’m going to ruin this if I add colour," or if you find yourself sticking to "safe" neutrals because you’re afraid of making a muddy mess—this workshop is for you.

In this workshop, we’ll be mastering the essentials of colour theory to build a foundation of certainty, allowing you to move beyond the basics and use its core principles as a roadmap to guide your intuition and build lasting creative confidence.

What You’ll Unlock:

  • The "Mud" Myth: Learn why there are no "ugly" colours—only misunderstood ones. We’ll practice turning accidental "mud" into sophisticated, intentional depth.

  • Instinctive Choosing: Use fast-paced "Emotional Speed-Dial" exercises to bypass the logical brain and pick colours that feel right, rather than just looking "correct."

  • The Power of Constraint: Discover how limiting your palette actually creates more freedom and harmony in your artwork.

Whether you attended the previous mark-making workshop or are just starting your journey, this session is for anyone who feels "colour-shy." 

By mastering the 'why' behind colour, you’ll unlock the freedom to paint with certainty and rediscover the sheer happiness of a confident palette that feels like you. 

What You Need to Bring:

All art materials will be supplied but you're welcome to bring any of your favourite art materials along. We'll mainly be using a mix of acrylic & charcoal during the workshop.

Please come prepared with an apron or clothes you don't mind getting messy.

Our cosy lodge at Tawnamoor is an idyllic spot set in the heart of the Cornish countryside on the edge of Cardinham Woods. Surrounded by acres of open greenery and natural beauty this is the perfect spot to feel creatively inspired.
